On 20th July we had a great time at The Viking's Fantastic Summer Fete. A personal highlight for us was celebrity chef and TV Presenter (and Viking owner) Simon Rimmer calling our Raspberry Ripple flavour 'lovely'! There was a BBQ, live music, gin bar, candy floss stall and of course the Bake Off, which was judged by Simon himself, and all the cakes looked incredible. As Wirral natives and regular visitors to the Viking, it was great to set up and serve in a place we know so well. Unfortunately we had to leave before the very end due to having a wedding reception booking the same evening, but for the 3 hours we were there we had a fantastic time and hope everyone enjoyed their IcyCurls! photos courtesy of Cal at Mission Mars

We sampled the Beyond Meat burger last week, scroll down to see what we thought... If you tend to avoid meat or opt for vegan diet, then chances are you'll have heard of the latest brand taking the plant-based world by storm - Beyond Meat.
We'd heard of them and seen them on social media etc. but were never really overly fussed about trying their products. That was until we were scouring the menu at one of our favourite lunch/brunch spots, Ottolounge in Heswall, when we spotted it - the 'Beyond' Cheese burger. For £11.95 you were served a 'plant-based vegan burger patty from Beyond Meat, with lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, vegan smoked gouda cheese and burger sauce.' When it first arrived what struck us instantly was its similarity to a 'normal' beef burger. The colour and textured exterior mimicked meat perfectly and once broken, the inside was pinky red which really resembled a medium to well done cooked burger patty. After a couple of mouthfuls it became quite obvious that this burger was in a different league to any other plant based burgers we've had before - if similarity to meat is what you're going for. For example, Aldi's beetroot burgers are great, but still have the earthy taste synonymous with the vegetable so it's never like eating real meat, but the beyond burger perfectly encapsulates a real beef burger in the form of pea proteins, without the soy, gluten and cholesterol of meat. The vegan cheese melted (what!) and the burger sauce and accompanying fries and slaw were delicious. We would definitely recommend the Beyond Meat burger, and can see them going down a treat now BBQ season is almost upon us! If only we could think of a perfect plant based dessert to follow... We were delighted when Clear Cut Financial Planning asked if we'd be willing to be on hand to supply their guests with ice cream at their summer open evening.
The office location at Inglewood Manor was stunning, and all guests were treated to champagne, a great choice of wine/beer, goody bags and a delicious BBQ. Our flavours on offer included, cookies n cream, raspberry, pina colada, chocolate, lotus biscuit, strawberry and quite a few 'make your owns'. A combination of oreo, strawberry, pineapple and lotus biscuit may not appeal to everyone, but one customer was delighted with their creation! To bring icycurls to your event, please get in touch. We had a great afternoon at the Hoylake Holistics God & Goddess themed open day event.
Guests could enjoy meditation, reiki healing, reflexology, card readings and of course delicious dairy free rolled ice cream plus much more. Hoylake Holistics offer a wide range of treatments, from massage therapy and reflexology right through to beauty treatments such as HD Brows and eyelash extensions. Check them out in Hoylake or visit www.hoylakeholistics.co.uk We also bumped into @WirralVeg so be sure to give them a follow on twitter and instagram. Okay well maybe not exactly famous...yet, but we did make Wirral Life magazine! They ran a story covering the Gordale Food Festival, which also happened to be our very first event, so no wonder we look a little flustered in the photo! As mentioned, this was our first event so we didn't exactly know what to expect. However we were pleasantly surprised by just how kind all the other stall holders were, plus it was great to see so many people enjoying IcyCurls.
One lady even had us make 4 tubs for her to take home and freeze! Our next event is the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port Wedding Fair on Sunday 4th March 12pm-4pm, followed by the Blackpool Vegan and Green Festival on 10th March, we hope to see you there. |
